From the recording Even the Sun Shines

I wrote this song while camping in Yosemite National Park in May 2007. Pete Morse plays bass and Lap Steel guitar.

Sunday afternoon a million things are in my head
At least I’m on the banks of the mighty Merced
In a place where the world shows its heart

If you never trust me there’s nothing I can do
Unlike the words you’ve heard before it’s all up to you

They say “Even the sun shines...”
I’ve heard it happens all the time
All I know is I don’t want to disappear
when you’re near

Don’t know where our paths are headed, wishin’ it’s parallel
If courtship is a poker game I hope you spot my tell
I should fold but I want you to call my bluff

If it’s simple and it’s beautiful do not be afraid
Every song must have a fighting chance to be written and be played
